Addresses |
1 screenshot | Family and friends edit their own contact information. Addresses are viewable in one location for convenience. |
Administration |
Owners are always in control of their family robot. We named the first robot SAL, short for Servant Artificial Lifeform, but you can name yours whatever you like. You also choose who can use it, what it does, etc. Control is on a per person basis so you can let your mother see the photos you give your robot but your 2nd cousin only see your family tree. |
Anecdotes |
Record your family stories. Specify who the story is about and when it takes place. That story will show on the timelines of whomever is in the story. |
Backup |
It doesn't get any easier than this. Copy files to your family robot's backup folder and access it from anywhere. |
Calendar |
4 screenshots | SAL customizes a personal calendar for you about the people you know. Displayable by month or by year, the calendar automatically shows family events such as Anniversaries, Birthdays, Childhood Firsts ( like first word ), etc. |
Downloads |
Add to your downloads folder and access your files from anywhere. |
SAL keeps track of your family and friend's contact information and makes it available to you from anywhere including your mobile phone. Email displays clickable email addresses of your Family&Friends. Additionally SAL can email for you.
Although owning a family robot means you no longer need to put your private information in a public space, by request SAL has been programmed to use Facebook. Check out SAL's Facebook profile. SAL can upload many, many photos for you in a single click, and automatically tag them SAL can also upload scrapbook pages and family trees. Use these features to make your Facebook page spectacular. |
Family Tree |
4 screenshots | By simply specifying each person's mother, father, and spouse SAL has all the information needed to calculate and build your complete family tree including relations.
The branches that join people show birthdays and annviersaries and clicking a person in the tree links to all their other information like photos, anecdotes, their timeline, etc. Having a family robot is a seamless way to collect all your family information in one place. |
Family&Friends |
Readily access information of your family and frieds as index cards. Automatically created index cards for each person include contact information, birth information, a family card that shows children, parents, and spouses, places you've lived, and more. Custom index cards can be created to share such information as hobbies, achievements, health, etc. Use as many of these cards any way you wish to keep information. ( note: some cards, like "Places I've Lived" and "Childhood Firsts" show on a person's timeline. ) |
Home Videos |
SAL integrates easily into your home computer. He provides a folder named 'home videos'. Copy your family ( or Hollywood ;-) movies to that folder and then securely watch them from anywhere on the Internet. • bonus: when SAL lives in his own family server ( see below ) he additionally will stream these videos to your TVs, iPads, mobile phones, etc. |
Jokes |
Nobody does memories like SAL. He provides wonderful areas to write those precious moments that can be so fun to remember. Like everything else worth remembering Jokes are placed on the timelines of whomever is mentioned. |
Journal |
1 screenshot | Each person gets a Journal which is private and cannot be viewed by anyone but themself. The date of the journal entry is where it will show on your timeline. This is a particularly interesting feature as you will often find your journal entry on your timeline next to a scrapbook page and photos. The Scrapbook page will be for something like a vacation day and right next to it you can read your Journal for that day. |
Music |
Give SAL your music and access it from anywhere you have a web browser. Yes, this means you can get music to your phone or tablet simply by giving it to your family robot and then browsing to your music page. |
MyFamilyRobot |
Of course every robot comes with a one-stop shop to ask questions, get help, and request features. Anytime your robot can't or won't do want you want him to, just reach out. Word gets sent to his programmers on your behalf. MyFamilyRobot welcomes communication and is very interested in what you have to say. |
News |
1 screenshot | News of birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, new photos, scrapbooked events, births of babies, modified wishlists, etc. is the first thing your robot shows you when you see him. Additionally, at the owner's discretion, you can tell your robot to email recent and upcoming news to family and friends each weekend. |
Photos |
9 screenshots | Put simply, if you have a folder on your computer that is full of even more folders that are full of photos then you want a family robot. From then on simply give him your photos ( save them from your camera to his 'photos/in' folder ) and he will use the "who, what, when, and where" of your photos to provide an organized, searchable, repository. Besides linking to each photo in many ways to create folders ( byDate, byPerson, byCollection ) SAL also converts each picture to different sizes such as tiny for your calendar and medium sized for your digital photo frame or emailing. He can upload them to Facebook, print them, email them for you, use them in your scrapbooks, etc. The "who, what, when, and where" can be specified when you give him your photos or at anytime.

Recipes |
A family favorite, using SAL to pass recipes through generations couldn't be easier. |
School |
Another feature many families appreciate, here your robot helps students ( and parents ) keep track of schoolwork. Tell SAL which subjects your students have. Add schoolwork to each subject as it is assigned. Change the status of the schoolwork such as 'new, almost done, submitted, and returned' When it is returned enter the grade received and SAL will calculate a running average. Oh yeah, SAL emails schoolwork reminders not only to the students, but also their parents. Sorry kids!!! |
Scrapbooks |
3 screenshots | Arrange clipart, photos, and text to commemorate events through scrapbooking. Each robot already includes over 17,000 high-quality public-domain images but you can add your own favorites as desired. Scrapbooked pages are shown on a person's timeline and can be printed for use in traditional scrapbooking and even uploaded to Facebook. |
Telephone |
You can use your family robot from your mobile phone including always having access to your telephone numbers when you connect to your robot. This means changing your phone is seamless and that you can even access your robot's address book from a friend's phone. |
Timelines |
4 screenshots
1 video |
Navigable timelines show photos, journal entries, scrapbooked events, etc. when they occur in your life. This is the premium way to commemmorate your life events, especially passing them on to future generations. One of the fundamental principles of owning your own family robot is privacy. Owning a robot means you get to record your life on your own computer and not on some public website where your data could be made available to 3rd parties, like government agencies. |
Wishlists |
Wishlists are an amazing way to simplify buying presents. Use them two ways.
| MyFamilyRobot Operating System • includes everything from the software plus: | |||
DLNA |
Your family robot provides a folder, 'media'. Add movies, tv shows, home videos, music, etc. to this folder and your roboot will stream it to your electronics; tv, cell phone, xbox, iPad, iPod, PlayStation, etc.; all DLNA compliant devices |
Home Automation |
SAL does state of the art home automation. This saves families money in addition to improving their lifestyle. On the way out the door click 'be back in 1 hr.' from your mobile phone. SAL will adjust your heat or air conditioning while you are away. At night tell SAL you are 'gone to bed' and he will shut off lights and power down televisions, etc. Any X-10 compatible hardware can be controlled. |
Surveillance Cameras |
3rd party open source software, Zoneminder, is included. ;This is the #1 linux video surveillance solution. You can use wireless cameras, indoor/outdoor cameras, color cameras, even cameras that support pan/tilt/zoom. Motion detection is supported. Monitor children in the backyard. Check in on the babysitter from your mobile.   |
Torrents |
Torrents are tiny files found on "torrent sites" that you give to your robot to have him download the movie, tv show, book, software, music or whatever file the torrent is for. |
Wiki |
SAL hosts your very own wiki, just like Wikipedia. There is no easier way to organize your family than having your own wiki. Kids can access this from college and you can access this from work so no more wondering your medication schedule or when you last had the tires on your car rotated. Create wiki pages for anything and everything and access it anytime, anywhere. |
